There Are More To Life Than “Loin Cloth” Issue

AH’s Comment Taken Out of Context?
The way I see this “loin cloth” issue it was taken out of context by many quarters especially leaders from so called Dayak based political parties. I don’t know about others, but for me after I read many comments in media, he (AH) does not refer to the “loint cloth” per se. What AH meant was referred to the Dayaks have “loin cloth” political mentality.
In another word, unless we try to do something beyond what we have already familiar with, we will never break free politically. When we are begging politically due to subtle forms of political oppression for the past 45 years, yet we never want to break free despite we can do it, that’s really call “loin cloth” political mentality.
Thanks God For No Flags Burning
Thanks God because there is no flag burning. That is to show at least their mentality still at control and rational. That’s also show the size of their soul still in shape. Why reacting to such a small issue until they want to burn flags? To me there are many more to life of the Dayaks in Sarawak than this “loin cloth” issue that the-power-that-be would never dare to address at all.
How Big Is A Leader’s Soul?
A good leader with big soul will fight for big, relevant, and significant issues instead of petty issues. It’s easy to set some people up in a small issue… get them to handle a large issue and wait! The size of their issue will be determined by the size of their soul.
Do They Have Locus Standi When Their Own House Not In Order?
Dayaks leaders have very weak locus standi when they call for people for unity. They are now in many “mosquito” political parties in Sarawak. They have been directed to merge into a larger entity in order to be stronger. The idea is good, but the inception is never from among themselves at the first place. On several occasions in the past I have seen Dayaks political parties make a momentous decision to amalgamate. Initially it seemed that this brought instant prosperity as the new group became two or three times bigger than before.
But whether it (new entity) can maintains this instant “success” is determined by the capacity of the leaders. If their souls are smaller than their desired success, the organization/party will soon be shrunk down to the size of their souls. This was really happened in the past and will happen again in the future!
Target Further Than This “Loin Cloth” Issue
Dayaks leaders must position themselves to be enlarged if they wish to see continuing development in Dayaks life’s pursuits. They have to become pacesetters for bigger development agendas instead of petty issues. I’m really amazed with their quick and selective counter statement, yet do nothing when there is something blatantly wrong with state’s policy. Maybe they should embrace BOS (Blue Ocean Strategy) too in politics in order to bring our community into next trajectory!
